


The main activity of the Katsuura Tracking and Communication Station is the tracking and control artificial satellites.
Its functions are to receive the electric signals from artificial satellites launched into space, determining their position and attitude, check that the electric equipment on board is functioning correctly, transmit to the satellite radio-wave commands depending on the prevailing conditions, and to maintain and manage the satellite.
The Communication Station is equipped with three parabola antennae as well as tracking control block, a power block, Nonozuka-yama (Nonozuka Mountain peak) collimation block.
Various provisions such as the Space Development Exhibition Room and the panel corner have been made to make the visit to the facility a learning experience. There is also a PR parabola antenna that can be operated even by the general visitor.
