Nippon Otis Elevator Company

Otis, the world’s largest elevator company prides itself on a more than 150 year long history since it started the world’s first manufacture of the modern elevator in the outskirts of New York, a history starting with the invention of the elevator drop prevention device by E.G. Otis in 1853. The company installed elevators also in Japan at the Bank of Japan Head Office in 1896 and delivered Japan’s first escalator to the Mitsukoshi Department Store in 1914.
