Our special LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) plant, the first ever built in Japan, was put into operation in 1973. Currently the company imports LNG that serves as the raw fuel for the production of city gas (town gas) from 6 countries, including Brunei. This plant produces roughly 40% of the company’s total city gas output and also supplies fuel gas for power generation to three power plants of Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO). We also have a positive commitment to preserving and protection the environment in the factory compound through a number of environmentally considerate actions, including actively encouraging greening in the factory precincts, using natural gas powered buses for our visitors, constructing ground-buried tanks for environmental reasons, and operating and environment-friendly natural-gas fired combined cycle power generating station.
