The Historic Site of Kazusa Kokubun-Niji (nunnery temple) is a historic cultural asset that indicates that Ichihara City was the center of politics and culture in the ancient Kazusa.
Ichihara City promoted maintenance of the historical site to hand this precious cultural asset down to the succeeding generations and allow the citizens to review and experience the history and culture of their hometown.
The inner gate was restored in 1993, and the covered corridor between the inner gate and the main hall came back with a new look in 1997.
In addition to the exhibition of unearthed relics, a movie called “Yomigaeru Taihei-no Iraka (Reviving Tile-Roofed House in the Taihei Period) is screened occasionally in the hall.
