Katori Shrine has a status of Kyu-kanpei Taisha (old government-supported shrine), the highest status, in Ichinomiya, Provicne of Shimousa. The shrine is regarded as one of the prestigious shrines in Japan in the same way as Kashima Shrine in Ibaraki. The main shrine constructed in 1700 by Tsunayoshi Tokugawa, the fifth Shogun, has been designated as an important intangible cultural heritage.

●Impression of Machigurumi Museum
- I could see the state-of-the-art construction technology and feel the beauty of the shape and color of the shrine, which was one of the three oldest shrines in Japan. The chrysanthemum festival was held at that time, and the best time to view ginkgo trees made our tour unforgettable. (30-year-old Chinese male)
- I like the atmosphere of shrines, and this tour was very satisfactory. The season was at the height of fall foliage and the chrysanthemums were at their best. Buddhist priest of the shrine explained about the shrine building, which was very informative. (27-year-old Chinese female)
