Various festivals are held throughout the year in Chiba.

Japanese people get excited when they hear the festival music. You are strongly recommended to participate in various festivals and experience this feeling unique to the Japanese. In addition to the festivals described below, many more festivals are held at various places within the prefecture throughout the year.

March


Cherry blossoms Festival / Azalea Festival (Noda City) Late in March-Early in May/Shimizu Park 2,000 cherry trees called Someiyoshino (Prunus yedoensis) bloom from March to April, and 20,000 azalea trees of 100 varieties bloom from April to May.

April

Narita Drum Festival (Narita City) Saturday and Sunday at the beginning of April/Front approach-Naritasan Shinshoji Temple It is a festival with new wrinkles, which compares the front approach leading to Shinshoji Temple to a theatrical space. Japanese drum associations representing respective prefectures in Kanto give performances, and respective shops along the front approach entertain visitors under a special plan made only for the day.

Sakura Tulip Festival (Sakura City) Early in April-Late in April/Sakura Furusato Square In Sakura Furusato Square by Inbanuma Lake, more than 400,000 tulips bloom around a Dutch windmill.

Sakura Jidai Matsuri (Festival of the Ages) Early in May/Around Shinmachi, Sakura City People disguised as armor-clad warriors and a princess march in procession along the street of a castle town. Drum-beating and Hashigo-nori (acrobatic performance on a ladder) are performed, as well.
