Study tour to the historical street of Sawara
Merchant houses used during the period from the Edo to the early Showa period are remaining along the street of Sawara.While walking along the Ono River, you can buy some foods and art works made by using traditional methods, which are disappearing in present-day Japan. |

In Sawara Machigurumi Museum, over forty stores open their household treasures to the public, such as furnishings that have been passed down through generations, traditional business tools and techniques, and even the stores themselves.
Suigo Sawara Dashi Kaikan displays a float used during the festival held in every summer and autumn, as well as the documents concerning Sawara’s float festival designated as an important intangible cultural heritage.

Katori Shrine has a status of Kyu-kanpei Taisha (old government-supported shrine), the highest status, in Ichinomiya, Provicne of Shimousa. The shrine is regarded as one of the prestigious shrines in Japan in the same way as Kashima Shrine in Ibaraki. The main shrine constructed in 1700 by Tsunayoshi Tokugawa, the fifth Shogun, has been designated as an important intangible cultural heritage.
