Chiba Prefectural Sekiyado-jo Museum

Chiba Prefectural Sekiyado-jo Museum is at the northernmost end of Chiba Prefecture and on the bank at the diversion point of Tone River and Edo River.
The Tenshukaku (castle tower) of the Museum is a replica of Sekiyado-jo. Sekiyado in Noda where the museum stands once prospered as a way station for transportation by water of Tone River.
Under the themes of “River and the industry concerned” and “Sekiyado Domain and Sekiyado,” the museum introduces the history of river improvement and transportation by water, as well as the history of Sekiyado Domain.



Access

35 minutes by Asahi bus (bound for Sakai-machi) from Kawama Stn. on Tobu Noda Line Drive your car along Route 16 toward Kashiwa from Kazo IC on Tohoku Expressway, go toward Yuki from Nakazato Intersection, and you will arrive at the museum in 40 minutes.


Historic Site of Kazusa Kokubun-Niji Exhibition Hall

The Historic Site of Kazusa Kokubun-Niji (nunnery temple) is a historic cultural asset that indicates that Ichihara City was the center of politics and culture in the ancient Kazusa.
Ichihara City promoted maintenance of the historical site to hand this precious cultural asset down to the succeeding generations and allow the citizens to review and experience the history and culture of their hometown.
The inner gate was restored in 1993, and the covered corridor between the inner gate and the main hall came back with a new look in 1997.
In addition to the exhibition of unearthed relics, a movie called “Yomigaeru Taihei-no Iraka (Reviving Tile-Roofed House in the Taihei Period) is screened occasionally in the hall.

Tateyama castle  (Shiroyama Park)

This park is made at the site of the castle of Satomi Clan.
Known for beautiful flowers, the park has trails with 1,200 camellia trees and an azalea park, allowing visitors to enjoy flowers of each season.
Along the Manyo Trail, plants mentioned in Manyoshu (Anthology of Myriad Leaves) are planted together with nameplates, and you can feel the world of Manyoshu while walking along the trails.



Access

10 minutes by JR bus bound for Suzaki from Tateyama Stn. on JR Uchibo Line. The park is near the Shiroyama park bus stop.


Chiba Folk Museum

Chiba Folk Museum is a museum built at the former site of the castle (Inohana Castle) resided in by the Chiba clan, which existed in Shimousa Province from ancient times to medieval times. 
The exhibition is mainly history and folk-related.




Kururi Castle

Kururi Castle is a renowned castle that lasted from the Warring States Period to modern times in Boso.
The castle tower is a reinforced concrete two-layer three-story building, built next to the site of the donjon in Shiroyama Park.  It has a total floor area of 190 m2 and a height of 15 m. 
Kururi Castle is also called Ujou (rainy castle) – it is said that it rained every three days, 21 times in total during the construction of the castle.




Otaki Castle

The Otaki Castle Branch of the Natural History Museum and Institute, Chiba is a unique museum with a castle tower structure.  The museum was built on the site of the donjon of Kazusa Otaki Castle, which is a historical location designated by Chiba Prefecture.
This museum functions as a specialized museum that exhibits and introduces historical materials related to arms and weapons, castles, samurai society, etc., from medieval times to modern times in Boso.  It is also a community museum that introduces regional cultural assets in the Sonan area.
